How Music and Art is Getting Me Through the Semester

While this semester isn't as hectic as previous semesters, exam week is here to make me feel stressed and helpless. I calm myself by listening to good music while looking at amazing art. My favorite artist at the moment, Hajin Bae, really inspires creativity in my struggling time. Here is a few of my favorite picture by Hajin and the songs I listened to while looking at it.
1.
This picture makes me feel euphoric and at ease.  In my head, I see two young adults who are unsure of themselves and the world around them.  The songs I listened to while admiring this picture are mostly rock n' roll. Here is a link to the songs I listened to:  Virtual Paradise

2.
This happy spring photo makes me want to walk barefoot on the grass! While I am being crammed with tests and essays, this photo makes me feel free and bliss.  The music I listened to while enjoying this pic are indie pop. Here's a link to the songs I listened to: Spring Break

3.
This photo brings me back to my childhood days.  Before middle school I had loved riding my bike.  I had stopped riding my bike because the neighborhood bike gang took over the street.  This art reminds me of those happy times when I was carefree. The odd mix of music I listened to while enjoying this picture is indie pop. Here is a link to the songs I listened to Sweet Protagonist

Castillo

I’m full of
the bullshit
that resides in my
corridors—
these hedonists that slice
at my skin and my soul.

I’m old and tiredly awake.
The assholes won’t let me sleep.
They bite my guts with greedy teeth.
I become water…I become grain…
sowed by sadism and adultery.

They transfuse
into me and
I evolve into
something horribly new.

No more my artistic aura,
my classical sense—
Just a specter of gloom
and dust floating
in the structure of a self I can’t really recall.

This is my holy downfall.

Spring Break 2014 Art

These are just some drawing I've done over the break. They're mostly color pencil, but I used crayon in some to make it brighter.  Here's some songs I listened to while doing this.  Spring Break Playlist
first drawing after my dry spell

I made the sky orange/yellow because I already made his shirt blue.

I used to love drawing beaches, so this was a nice throwback sort of.

She was the hardest piece overall.  I really challenged myself with the placement of her head and the coloring.  The coloring was hard because I had to really hide the erase marks.

Drawings and stuff

Just some things I've drawn/ painted these past few weeks.  The semester just ended so I'll be able to post more often.  Also I need to get a job.  I'm not doing well at school, so I need to get my life together some other way.  I got a C in a class I thought I was going to get a B in and I failed a class I knew I was going to fail. Please enjoy these drawings and this playlist.  Drawing Songs Sincerely, Johanna

wreck this activity book

I got an activity book from a Kid's Meal from Wendy's.  The theme is road trip activities.  Cool because I'm reading Jack Kerouac's On the Road for English.  I even made a playlist for it.  Road Music But most of the activities just apply to long road trips and you can get anywhere you need to be in Guam within 30 minutes.  So I decided to wreck this activity book with my lame art. Yes I got the idea from Wreck This Journal.  And this is cool because I'm not spending $10 or whatever on a book telling me how to art.  I may lack creativity, but I know how to art.  Here's what I've made so far.
